My friend Ruth alerted me to a special event occurring at the press box at Citi Field on Thursday night.
"Flood", a play by Michael Brandt, will have a special free reading at the press box of the Mets home park tomorrow night. It is about Curt Flood, the pioneer who helped break the reserve clause back in the early 1970s. (An excellent book about him and his struggle, "A Well Paid Slave" should be required reading for all MLB players.)
The play is directed by Ian Morgan, and features Ned Eisenberg, Michael Gaston, Devin Hagg, Kevin Hogan, Scott Kerns, John Rothman, Godfrey L. Simmons, and James Wallert.
After tomorrow night's reading, there will be a post-show discussion with onetime MLBPA general counsel Dick Moss. Again, the reading is free and open to all.
If you'd like to check out the play tomorrow, or two other presentations this Saturday and Sunday, you can go here to reserve tickets.
