Most people like to talk about their interests outside of work—whether it be a sporting event or something else they have been doing, such as studying or maybe taking art classes. It’ll be useful to be involved in such discussions to get closer to your friends, or maybe make some new ones.

A: 小刚,你昨天看NBA季后赛了么?Xiǎo gāng, nǐ zuótiān kàn NBA jì hòu sàile me?

Gang: did you watch the NBA play-off yesterday?

B: 唉,昨天我加班来着,没看成。昨天是哪两个队?Āi, zuótiān wǒ jiābān láizhe, méi kàn chéng. Zuótiān shì nǎ liǎng gè duì?

Sigh, yesterday I needed to work overtime and could not watch. Which teams were playing?

A: 勇士和火箭。勇士赢了20多分儿。Yǒngshì hé huǒjiàn. Yǒngshì yíngle 20 duōfēn er.

Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets. Warriors won by 20 points.

B: 是吗!Shì ma!

I see.

A: 嗯!但是后来库里受伤了,不过他们还是赢得很轻松。En, Dànshì hòulái kù lǐ shòushāngle, bùguò tāmen háishì yíngdé hěn qīngsōng.
