” You start off as strangers and end up as friends “ I said that to my parents as we sat around our front row table at The Jazz Bar a week ago on Friday. What do I mean by that and what on earth am I talking about ? Well, a week ago now ( or a bit more ) the Edinburgh Jazz Festival started and after an extremely pleasant day spent in the 25 degree sunshine we freshened ourselves up and got our tickets and made our way in the evening’s warmth to Chamber St. I guess I gave it away in the first sentence “Jazz Bar”, yes, indeed we were there to see some jazz; the Pål Nyberg Quartet. It was so good, and I am very pleased that we went to it. Having been to our fair share of jazz events over the years and  having walked out of quite a few during the interval , this was the first one in a long time which was so superb. My first experience of live jazz at age fifteen was the superb  Peter Rosendal ( Danish )and  we have listened to his two albums endlessly; these Scandinavians  have a very ...
