Yesterday

By Mike Bullock

Yesterday they had a home
A job and family
Everything was going well
As far as they could see
In paradise they reaped the joy
That Christmas brought along
And peace, it rained upon their lives
How could things go so wrong.

Their lives were flattened by the waves
And everything washed clean
Their treasures stored upon the earth
Had perished in the sea
The rich and poor were all as one
Heartbreak was their reward
They’d built a temple to themselves
Instead of our dear Lord.
