Xu Jun Sheng to Close Down on 14 April 2014

By Dariel

The closure of all-time favourite Teochew restaurant Mong Hing has already shocked the Teochew community. Here is another sad news to break – popular Teochew porridge Xu Jun Sheng (Long Ji) is closing its doors on April 14th.

The reasons for the closure are due to the increasing rent the business owner Mr Koh Long Swee has to pay and also there are no successors among the younger generations to this long time business of 76 years. As the name of the business says, Xu Jun Sheng is best known for its Teochew dishes. We went to the place for family dinner some time ago and we must say the Teochew food served there are indeed delicious, does not feel thirsty after the meal and best of all, the price is reasonable. Check out the random quick snaps from the dinner.

It’s sad to see another old name in the Teochew food scene to go. While its doors are still open now, we recommend to head on down to Xu Jun Sheng (Long Ji) for a dose of authentic Teochew food – with a nice hot bowl of porridge.
