Last month I decided I wanted to challenge myself to worka kimonointo my wardrobeand I was even able to find one in this years colorRadiant Orchid. No matter the name they give itthis bold shade of pink is always one of my favoritesto add some fresh colorto my wardrobe which is made up primarily of neutral building blocks.
I first showed the kimono herebut after one particularly intoxicating Saturday night spent on Pinterest I wanted to challenge myselfto style the kimono into an outfit incorporating some disparate trends I am enjoying.
One trend I am intrigued with is a distressed boyfriend jean. For me I love the juxtaposition of rugged and wornmixed with my normal pieces of sporty and glam.
I spent a couple of days
trying to find the perfect pairwith enough distressing … but not too muchbecause for me at my ageI just didn't want to have exposed skin showingI like the idea of the trendbut I wanted to make sure it still was what I consider a good personal age choice.I wanted to make the trend my ownwithout looking like I am praying at the alter of desperate to be younger than my newly 55.After trying on so many pairs … high end and lowand even purchases madeI actually found the perfect pair in my closet! How lucky is that!I chose to roll the legsso my perfect juxtaposingpointy glam shoe showed!
The vintage Chinese wicker basket that I found at February's Antique Marketmade for the perfect purse.
I always use nautical stripes as a neutral player. For me it's adds a perfect nautical nod to everythingwhich I love as a part of my Southern California style.I layered this Anthropolgie stripe over myfavorite denim shirt.
Of course I finished the outfit off with accessories.
First with one of my favorite vintage brooch necklacesand it you haven't seen it yet,I have aDIY for the necklacehere.
I added turquoise howlite bracelets from my shopand literally topping it all off with my beloved Panama hat.
As always my friends
I wish you love and joyas you style your life
