I’ve been trying a range of face washes and exfoliators to help ease my oily skin, and so far only a few products have helped. I decided to try the Oil Control Foaming Face Wash by Witch which claims to eliminate oil and combat shine from the first use. It sounded promising, so I gave it a go.

The first noticeable thing is the fresh smell of the foam. It’s pleasant and smells fresh and clean, although true to its name, this product really is foam. It felt like it had no substance and as such it was difficult to rub in, and didn’t really feel like it had made any kind of impact on my skin. However once it dried I did notice that my skin felt fresher and also tighter, and my skin appeared matte with reduced shine. Great result, I thought, although it only lasted about half an hour.

This isn’t a long lasting solution. The Witch Oil Control Foam works best when teamed up with an exfoliator and a good toner, but otherwise it’s virtually ineffective by itself. It would be good to use first thing in the morning or when you need to wash your make up off in the evening, but otherwise I can’t recommend it if you’ve got oily skin. I also suspect it would make dry skin even more dry too.

I did like that the pump gave you the right amount so you won’t go through this face wash too quickly. It also felt light on my skin which is good after a day wearing foundation, primer, powder etc. It’s not a bad face wash for £2.66 (Superdrug), but I don’t think it’s a good mattifying product.
