WINTER WONDERLAND: Magazines That Will Inspire You

By Reeseatomic @reeseatomic

Here we are at the end of the Winter Wonderland series. Oh, what a trip it’s been. Thank you everyone for all your support on Instagram and retweeting the links on Twitter. It was truly one of the best accomplishments I’ve made as a blogger. Hopefully I’ll be back next year with another round of amazing things to share with everyone!

So, here we are with the final post in the Winter Wonderland series, three magazines they inspire me and hopefully does the same for you…

Before having a blog became mainstream, everyone relied on magazines to get their news and gossip, referenced back to and even got inspiration. These days we very rarely see a publication that isn’t full of crap, but there ARE three I’ve found that are inspiring and restores faith back into the old school magazines.

I like purchasing some magazines in my iPad. It works with my living space (I don’t have much of it) and I do like that no matter what time of the day or night it is, I can download a copy straight away.
But while I do like a digital copy, there are mags prefer on paper only because they’re not glossy and in-your-face. They make excellent coffee table magazines for visitors to flick through during their visit.
Another great thing about these mags is that you can purchase any back issues (subject to availability) if you’ve missed an issue or a like to have a complete library.

Peppermint, $11.50/issue (published 4 x year)
This has been a favorite for a few years now. The thing I like the most about Peppermint is that they’re a 100% carbon neutral publication and have a completely independent editorial, so you can be sure that they’ll have something very unique to deliver to their readers.
I always find that I want to shop more in magazines like Peppermint because they embrace uniqueness, and who doesn’t like being themselves? They also have a digital copy available via their website for your iPad or tablet.
Visit Peppermintmag.com to find out more.

Frankie, $9.95/issue (published 6 x year)
Like Peppermint, Frankie has been in my magazine rotation for years. I absolutely love how they’ve give you a bimonthly calendar for your wall with every issue with a unique illustration on it. (If that’s your thing, you might be interested in their one-off publication of wrapping paper with an abundance of unique patterns and designs.) They’ve also have a spin-off mag dedicated entirely to recipes for delicious treats.
Frankie just recently launched the mag on a digital platform. While I know it exists for iPad, I’m not entirely sure if they have it for Android.
Visit Frankie.com.au for more information on the latest issue and their other mags they have available.

Hooray, $14.95/issue (published 1 x year)
Formally known as Hitched, this is a new mag I recently got into. Now, I know what you’re thinking – why am I reading a WEDDING magazine?
Yes, it is a magazine dedicated to weddings, but I love it purely for the fact they have the most amazing ideas for parties as well an amazing database for places and things for a celebration. With the things in the mag, I like to put my own spin on it (not wedding related) for now. But I’ll definitely keep these in mind for when I actually DO get married.
If you’re planning a wedding or want to find about more about Hooray magazine, visit them at Hooraymag.com.

That’s all from me for the Winter Wonderland series for 2014. I hope you’ve all enjoyed the things featured this year. Hopefully you’ve gotten stuck into a few of them and enjoyed them as much as I did.

Til next year…
