Are you an avid gamer? Do you play your favorite game for long periods of time? This blog article is dedicated to you. We're going to discuss New World Online, the newest MMO game. There will be no more laborious leveling up and grinding with this new update! Instead, gamers can concentrate on traveling to different parts of the globe. There are enough quests to keep all types of gamers occupied!
What should I do first in the New World?
We'll be talking about some of our favorite features in detail below so make sure to read until the end. However, you can take a new world boosting service to increase or improve quickly.
Harvesting and Mining
Mining takes time, but it's a great way to start earning money. The best early minable resource is coal, which sells for about 6 silver each at the moment. Once you've got the mining skill up to rank 2 you'll be able to mine gold ore, which can be smelted into gold bars. 1 gold bar sells for 50 silver right now, which is a great rate!
The best early gathering skill is herbalism. Herbs sell for a decent amount in the auction house and the demand isn't too high at this point in time.
Upon reaching level 10 you'll unlock your first harvesting tool - the sickle. The sickle is all you'll need to gather herbs, weeds, wheat, cotton and other crops in the early game. For more difficult harvesting jobs you'll unlock better tools later in the game, but for now your sickle will be your best friend.
Getting Wood
Wood is a very important resource early on as it's needed for furnaces, chests and carts. If you don't already have a pickaxe I recommend you get your mining up to rank 2 (which requires level 8), which will unlock the copper pickaxe. Start gathering wood by chopping down cottonwood trees at first - they are abundant around rivers near major settlements.
Building Expansions
As New World is a sandbox game you can build where you want. To start expanding your land, look for flat spots near the perimeter of town and click on them with your mouse to make a claim. You can expand further out from there as needed by clicking on new claims inside your existing claims area.
You'll need wood, stone and metal ore to construct buildings. Look for these resources in the immediate area around your town, or go out and harvest some. Stone is especially difficult to find early on!
Storage Bins, an Expanding Inventory and Storage Chests
There are several storage options available early game:
- For bulk items like ore, wood etc 8 storage bins will be sufficient (costs 1 silver each).
- To store items that take up more space, like food, cloth and cotton you'll need a bigger storage solution. If you're planning on harvesting lots of those materials then look into getting one or two 5×5 stacks of storage chests (cost 10 gold each per stack).
- For even larger stores there are 7×7 stacks of storage chests available for 30 gold each.
Town Quests and Economy
At this point in time you should be focusing on getting all your skills trained up to rank 2, getting a few houses built and completing town quests. Earning a bit of silver is a great way to start out early on! You can check the town quest board for quests or just see what people are offering to buy.
As you get close to reaching level 10 you'll unlock a house, so save up some silver and build one! Purchase a donkey from the stable merchant in town and use it to transport your goods. You'll need to upgrade your inventory before being able to carry enough goods to fill up a house, but the donkey should have enough space for you to start small.
Faction Missions and Town Projects
You can now complete missions assigned by the town's factions, which will result in rep gains. Your first faction mission is available starting at level 10 if you are looking for something to do!
Town projects also become available starting at level 10, and completing a town project will result in a big reputation gain for the whole faction.
Transport Goods to Other Settlements
New World is brought to life with player run marketplaces. You'll want to start gathering all your materials into storage and then transport them to other towns so you can sell them for profit and buy some nice items. To start this process off, look for some trade goods in the auction house and purchase something small like 20 packs of cloth to get you started.
Once you have a donkey make sure you create a town note at your main market settlement (the one with the highest number), add all surrounding settlements as 'away' and then 'home' to the other settlement. To complete all that, click on your inventory while standing in a town, click 'town note', find the market settlement you're working with and add surrounding settlements as home and away.
Doing this will allow you to transport goods between towns by either using your donkey or hiring an ox cart at the stable merchant.
When transporting goods keep in mind that a donkey has a small inventory and an ox cart can't move goods between towns - so you'll need to use both! I recommend putting your town note on the market settlement, so all surrounding settlements link up to it. You can then transport goods from one town to another by either clicking the market settlement town note or hiring an ox cart.
Building Your Map
As you move around the map you'll start to build up your own personal records of where useful locations are. You can use this knowledge for things like knowing which towns have iron mines, where farm X is etc. I recommend making separate notes for each major resource type (ex: coal, ore) and then noting where you can find a lot of it. This will allow you to prioritize your trips by choosing the most efficient routes.
It's also a good idea to make notes of locations that have been visited before, but aren't directly linked on the minimap - this allows you to get back there again without looking it up again.
Buying Your First House
Once you have some silver saved up, purchase a basic house from the housing merchant in town. A small house with just an oven, counter and cabinet goes for around 200-300 silver depending on your server. Upgrade your home as much as possible by using your hard earned silver! Everything is available and the only limit is your storage space. Once you get a house, don't forget to set up a town note by purchasing a house deed!
A small house will quickly fill up with all your harvest piles and if you're not careful it'll get crowded very fast - so think about upgrading it sooner than later. Your inventory will also fill up fast, so consider getting a donkey or ox cart to help with transportation.
And that's basically it! Don't forget your storage space will fill up fast, so upgrade your inventory if you want to save time and hassle later on. Also don't forget about personal skills like mining, lumberjacking etc - those can make a huge difference in gathering speeds!
When you find yourself running out of inventory space, check the auction house for new items and make use of the town note system to transport goods. It's very important that you upgrade your inventory as early as possible. Once you've gathered some silver it's time to start buying supplies like food/water which will help you survive longer and travel faster.
Your first house will fill up fast with harvest piles, so make sure you upgrade it as soon as possible! It's also a good idea to pick up personal skills like mining/lumberjacking to help your harvesting speed.
From there on out, you'll quickly start making silver and buying better items like donkey carts and furniture.
Good luck, hope this helps!
