What's New at the Drugstore With First Impressions and Swatches

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
There is A TON of new stuff at the drugstore. It is almost overwhelming. I haven't tried a lot of this stuff yet, but it looks like the world of drugstore is making some improvements.
Lets just dive right in.
1.) Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water
It is about time Garnier brought their micellar water stateside. I have seen countless Instagram posts about it from other countries and I have anxiously waiting to get my hands on it. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and I really like it so far. It is gentle, yet effective. It is also pretty large, so it should last longer that my Simple Micellar Cleansing Water. That stuff is fantastic, but I go through it quickly.
2.) Revlon Not Just Nudes Palettes
This palette has been out for a little while now, but I would still consider it new. There are two versions of it: a warmer palette and a cooler toned one. I have the cool toned one and it is okay. The pigment is decent and they have a nice texture. I do think that the larger Wet n Wild Centerstage Palettes are a lot nice and they cost less.

3.) Revlon 2 in 1 Compact Makeup and Concealer
I have noticed that a lot of higher end brands are combing foundation and concealer. But I haven't seen it in drugstores. I have used this twice, and it has impressed me so far. The coverage is nice, and so is the consistency. It does get a little oily, though.

4.) Revlon Brushes
Yes, Revlon has a line of brushes out now. And they look amazing. I saw a crease brush, an all over shadow brush, powder brush, large stippling brush, and a blush brush. I only picked up the blush brush for now, and it was $10.99. I found them at Walgreens.

5.) Burt's Bees Lipsticks
Not lip balms or lip glosses, lipsticks. And they are pretty great. They are hydrating, pigmented, and they come in  a lot of colors. They aren't the longest lasting lipsticks, but they won't dry out your lips. Plus the packaging is a lot prettier than anything else at the drugstore. I have three of the shades: Russet River, Lily Lake (LOVE), and Blush Basin. I like all three, but I love Lily Lake. They are on the sheer side for a lipstick, but they feel nice. They don't stay on long, though.

6.) Revlon Volume + Length Magnifier Mascara
Revlon has also released a lot of new mascaras. There is one for length, one for volume, one for both, and then there are a few more.  I picked this one because it seemed to offer a little bit of everything. It is pretty good. It offers a little more length than volume, but so far I like it. It works well with the new Milani lash fibers.

7.) Profusion $1 and $3 Palettes
I don't know if these are even new, but I have never seen them before. The $1 palettes have five shadows and the $3 ones have six. I am pleased with the quality of both palettes. They are soft and smooth, but do not fall apart. The pigment is also pretty good considering the price. I have gotten some nice looks out of them.

8.) Physicians Formula InstaReady BB Cream
Physicians Formula isn't a brand that I have tried, so I figured I would pick up their new BB cream. And so far, I really like it. The coverage is good and it seems to stay on pretty well. The only complaint that I have is that the lightest shade is a teensy bit too dark for me, but it still works.
9.) L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation
This is the hot new product that everyone is talking about. Of course I would want to be in on the action, too. I have only tried one cushion foundation (by It Cosmetics) and I love the concept. We shall see if this new one is any good. Regardless, it is nice to see a cushion foundation at the drugstore. Physicians Formula has one as well, but I have not been able to find it yet. I wore this today and loved it. The coverage is amazing and it has a slightly dewy finish. It is probably better for drier skin, but I paired with the Maybelline Master Fix Setting Powder and Wet n Wild's Photo Focus Setting Spray and it did not get greasy and stayed put. Loving it so far.

10.) L'oreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss
Liquid lipsticks are still all the rage, and I am a fan. L'Oreal released a new version that has a semi-matte finish that feels comfortable on the lips. They have amazing pigment, but they never dry down completely and the transfer is horrible. It comes off on anything, even 8 hours after applying. Yet it still manages to stay on.

11.) Milani Moisture Lock Lip Treatment
This is a full line of hydrating lip treatments. There are many different ones and each one has a different oil and corresponding color. They have one with coconut oil, one with lemon, one with grapefruit, and so on. I got the rose hip oil and the pomegranate oil. I just put some one. It feels nice, but I don't feel that it is going to be intensely hydrating. After it wears off, my lips still feel a little dry.

12.) Milani Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Palette
Milani has a new eyeshadow palette that makes doing your makeup easy. These palettes are color coordinated and have step by step instructions. I picked up Plum Basics and Earthy Elements because I can't resist the warm neutrals.

13.) Milani Length In Seconds Extension Fibers
I love some false lashes, but I am also for anything that can mimic the look of falsies. I have used them once and they were okay. As of now, they are not as good as the Catrice lash fibers.

13.) Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick
I've made it my mission to try as many liquid lipsticks as possible, especially drugstore ones. I only got the shade Berry Boost. It was the only one I saw that looked like it would be flattering on me.

14.) Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation
I was sold at "matte hydrating foundation." How innovative, right? The formula is described as a whipped gel, which sounds incredibly interesting.

15.) Maybelline Master Fix Setting+Perfecting Loose Powder
I've been into trying out more loose powders, so this one caught my attention. I have used it twice and it seems to be good. I'm just not a fan of how little product you get.

16.) Rimmel London Kate Moss Sculpting Kit
And the contour craze just continues. I actually haven't been contouring for the last two months or so because I just haven't been needing to. But I think it is time to start again. This contour kit is giving me motivation. I also used this today and it was okay. The contour shade was a bit too warm for my taste and it took some work to blend it. But it looked good once it was blended. The blush is beautiful and the highlight is more subtle than what I usually go for, but it looked nice.

17.) L'Oreal Colour Riche Mono Eyeshadows
These new L'Oreal shadows look beautiful! I swatched the four I bought and I was immediately impressed. The texture was perfection and the pigment was fantastic good.  If they wear as good as they swatch, these will be winners.

18.) Jesse's Girl Backstage Beauty Collection
I know this is a new-ish product, but I don't think it is brand new. I haven't tried anything from this brand, except for the Julie G nail polish, so I was curious about these eyeshadows. I have worn this once, and I liked it. The shimmery shades are stunning and have nice pigment. The four matte shades along the bottom leave a lot to be desired. I can barely see them. The texture is very nice, though.

19.) Wet n Wild Photofocus Setting Spray
It is pretty awesome that Wet n Wild has a setting spray. I am going into it with low expectations, but maybe it will surprise me. The bottle is pretty small (1.52 oz), so it probably won't be around very long. I used it today and it seemed to work pretty well. Of course I will have to try it a variety of different ways to be 100% sure.

20.) Wet n Wild Brushes
These prices are cheap and adorable. I got the small stippling brush and the powder brush. I wasn't too impressed with the stippling brush. It was soft and it didn't shed, but it was a little flimsy.

21.) Rimmel London Magnif'Eyes Eyshadow/Kohl Kajal Pencil
I honestly have no idea what this is even called, but I got two of them. I went with Dark Side of Blue and Queens of the Bronzed Age. I'm not even sure why I got these. I never use eyeshadow crayons, but maybe these will make me a convert.

There are a lot more new products that I didn't get, and NYX has a ton of new products that just launched at Ulta. I will talk about those in a separate post because I just got some of them thanks to an Ulta gift card that I got as a Christmas gift.  =)
See you soon!
