The WGC Accenture Match Play is very different compared to all other PGA Tour events. Going head to head each day with a new opponent, players are constantly faced with the fear of elimination. Matt Kuchar was able to put those fears aside, concentrate on his game, and was able to come out victorious at the end of the weekend. The weekend was filled with surprises, including crazy weather, and several unexpected match upsets, but in the end, Kuchars consistent play carried him through all six of his match-ups.
His pairings looked like things:
- Round 1 - Defeats Fujita 3 and 2
- Round 2 - Defeats Garcia 2 and 1
- Round 3 - Defeats Colsaerts 4 and 3
- Round 4 - Defeats Garrigus 3 and 2
- Round 5 - Defeats Day 4 and 3
- Round 6 - Defeats Mahan 2 and 1
- Round 1: 16 holes played - 3 Birdies, 11 Pars, 2 Bogeys
- Round 2: 17 holes played - 5 Birdies, 11 Pars, 1 Bogey
- Round 3: 15 holes played - 6 Birdie, 7 Pars, 2 Bogeys
- Round 4: 16 holes played - 5 Birdies, 8 Pars, 3 Bogeys
- Round 5: 15 holes played - 3 Birdies, 8 Pars, 4 Bogeys
- Round 6: 17 holes played - 5 Birdies, 9 Pars, 3 Bogeys
- Total: 96 holes played - 27 Birdies, 54 Pars, 15 Bogeys
This remains one of my favorite events to watch as players battle head to head. Congrats to Matt Kuchar on winning the WGC Accenture Match Play!
