Olympic mascots Wenlock and Mandeville: What would their motto be?
The London 2012 Olympics have revealed that the official motto will be “Inspire a Generation.”
Matthew Norman on The Telegraph suggested that it should be “Try Not to Get Mugged”; on the same paper, Oliver Pickup suggested “London: It’s Going to be a Riot.”
On Twitter, Steven Robbins suggested “Utter Waste of Money”; James Firth amended it to “Inspire a generation of monopolistic capitalists and brand protection litigators.” MP Jake Rees-Mogg said it sounded “more like two team names on The Apprentice sharing a lost article,” whilst Paul Hayward said that it sounded like a line from the spoof TV show TwentyTwelve. “Life imitating art. Maybe something simpler and more sincere: ‘Play Time.’”
