Weinf: Purple Bird and Other Strange Songs

Posted on the 31 March 2017 by Hctf @hctf

Barcelona based musician Weinf calls his songs psychedelic jazzy rock and that make sense if you are looking for the missing link between Nick Cave and Jonathan Spottiswoode. His new album Purple Bird and Other Strange Songs is a trippy affair, with occasional washes of distorted guitar, but first and foremost driven by keyboards about halfway Alan Price and Steve Winwood.

Weinf is both a balladeer and a dead serious musical jester. With songs like the bold The Absence of a God Has Made Me Free, the sexy come hither The Finest Woman I Have Ever Met and the claustrophobic Kafka On The Shore he shows his talent as a lyricists. He can wrap his criticism in poetry. It won't soften the blow of his attacks on the establishment. He has uncanny knack for swing, which his uses for both his music and his proverbial fists.

Weinf: vocals, bass, guitar keyboards
Pol Mata: keyboards
Júlia Martín: drums
Dana Colle: sax
