I think the Brewers must have gone crazy or something. They selected Pirates pitching prospect Wei-Chung Wang in the Rule V draft. Wang was only eligible for the draft because after signing his initial contract in 2012 it became voided due to him needing TJ surgery. The Pirates worked out another deal with him, he had the surgery and spent all of 2012 rehabbing. He joined the Pirates in 2013 and they sent him to rookie ball (a level which admittedly is probably below his current ability) to ease him into action. He pitched quite well and established himself as somewhat of a prospect (I had him in my Pirates top 20 pitching prospects at least) and Tim over at Pirates Prospects had him rated 30th in the system.
The guy has talent and he is left handed which means I guess he can be used situationally but I just don't see anyway he sticks on the 25 man roster all year long. This is a guy who hasn't pitched above rookie ball, who has never played even A ball and the Brewers are going to send him out on to a major league baseball field to face major league hitters? I just don't understand how the Brewers believe there is any chance in the world this works out. I mean for only 25K I guess why not but wow I just don't understand.
