Week(end) Recap!

By Hblack79

Good Morning!

How did your weekend shape out?  Any St. Patty’s Day plans?  Mine turned out slightly uneventful for the majority of the weekend and eventful for a small part of the weekend.  Let’s back up just a bit to the tail end of last week though since I disappeared for most of that.

Last Wednesday, I attended Java Jog!  It’s been SO long since I was able to attend and can I just say… it was absolutely GLORIOUS!  My new shoes are doing great and my runs have been pain free, thank goodness!  It was so nice to be back with Mary Lindsey and Louise, we all agreed that it had been way too long without the three of us running together.  The first half of our run was excellent, I felt like we had a solid pace.  The second half of the run was slower for me.  My knee didn’t give me any pain, but it did feel odd at times, so I took it slow to make sure I didn’t do any harm and to be on the safe side.  Overall I was impressed with my run.  I also didn’t experience any residual pain throughout the day like I used to.

Of course, I always enjoy the free cup of coffee.

Mary Lindsey and I have been trying to get together for lunch, so we settled on Thursday at Whole Foods.  I’ve been trying to reel in some of my bad eating habits, so I was excited to find a black eyed pea and collard green soup that was Health Starts Here approved and looked delicious.  I knew I needed something with a little more substance to hold me over for the day though, so I grabbed some brown rice.  I dumped the soup over the rice and the most delicious meal was made!

Also, my beloved Kevita is on sale right now, 2 for $5 through the end of the month!

This weekend was pretty low key for me, but I really really enjoyed it.  Nick was planning to come home, but decided against it because he had a test running at work and wanted to be available for it.  That gave me time to catch up on stuff at home though, so it worked out well.  I did a lot of laundry/cleaning on Friday and Saturday morning.  I’m going through my closet right now to get rid of stuff I don’t wear.  I’ll have lots of bags for Good Will or the Palmer Home by the end of this week!

Saturday, I was invited to a fun St. Patrick’s Day party.  We drank, ate, and played games.  Of course, I arrived when they were playing Cards against Humanity.  Eventually we switched to Game of Things which was a lot of fun.  I had never heard of the game, but it’s basically like Cards against Humanity, but where you create your own lines, then you guess who said what and they get eliminated if you guess correctly.  We also played Bananagrams which is now one of my favorite games – I’ll be picking that up on my next trip to the store!  It’s similar to scrabble, but quicker.

I also met the CUTEST dog in the world.  His name is Albert, which is also the future name of my next dog.  He’s 10 years old and has no teeth, so his little tongue permanently sticks out of his mouth.

He’s a mini pomeranian and completely black, just like our sweet little Cappie.  He was a lot more friendly to strangers than Cappie is though.  I can’t wait to get my own dog and name him Albert.  I couldn’t help but say his name all through the night.

This weekend was also spent perfecting a delicious & healthy chocolate peanut butter oatmeal pancake that I can’t wait to share with you tomorrow!

Sunday was saved for blogging and catching up on e-mails.  I’d call it a successful weekend in the books – lots of productivity with a good mix of fun and friends!

  • What did you do this weekend?
  • Have you ever played the Game of Things or Bananagrams?
  • Seriously, have you seen anything cuter than a mini pom with his tongue sticking out?
