We Hold These Truths

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men* are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
*(Of course the authors of the Declaration of Independence didn't actually mean people of color or women of any color. But we've gotten beyond that, haven't we? I'd like to think so.) May the promise of the United States of America hold true -- for all of us. . .
