University Series || #2 My Thoughts on Going to Universtity

By Shimmerofpink @shimmerofpink
Hellooo shimmers,
This is the second post in my University Series- #1 was choosing a course and university.
There were a lot of questions I have been asked and alot of them are the same, so I have decided to a  answer post rather that answering them all individually.
This was a very common question- How do I feel about going to university, am I nervous, am I worried, what am I looking forward to etc. this is going to be a chatty post about my thoughts and feeling about starting university and they are my own so others may feel differently or think differently but this is how I feel and my thoughts!I'm going to split this up-a) Starting a new course in a new placeb) moving out and into accomodationc) social aspect of university
a) I'm really excited about starting university. I feel like I need a change of scenery and I want to be able to study something I really want to . Where as in school because you have to study 3-5 subjects depending on the school some of the subjects you take you actually aren't that interested in. I suppose I am a little bit nervous because I hope I like the course. If you have done or are doing psychology at university are you enjoying it? Whether I go to Edinburgh or Stirling it's not really a "new" place because I am there quite a lot especially Edinburgh. So I'm not too concerned about not knowing my way about and also Stirling is a campus university so it's all in the one place.
b) shhh...don't tell my mom but I am really looking forward to moving out. I love my family and living at home but again I need a change a new adventure! I am looking forward to having a bit more independence and fending for myself! It's going to be strange and take a bit of getting used to but I'm sure it will be a really good experience. I know a lot of people may be thinking she's a bit optimistic! That's what my mom says I always see the good not the bad, but I don't want to see the bad because then I would never do anything,. I know it's not going to be easy but I am so up for the challenge and can't wait!
c) a lot of people seem to be very concerned about meeting people and interacting with others. Just remember you are all in the same boat and everyone else is thinking the same. You will get to know the people in your classes in your flat or halls, through clubs and societies. It will be a slow progress but as long as you are actively involved in different things even just saying "hi my name ...." When you pass someone on campus or in your accommodation block it will help! Also a friend who went to university a few years ago said on moving in day if you have cakes you soon make friends!
Again any more questions leave below I will get through them all!Laura x
