Ulta Haul and First Impressions: NYX and Catrice Cosmetics

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
Guys, I am so excited about this haul! I went in Ulta to return my Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and walked out with some hopeful awesome stuff.  I have seen Catrice Cosmetics on Ulta's site, but I didn't think they would make it down to my local Ulta store. For my fellow Atlantans, I am from Henry County, and my local stores are usually slow to get newer things in stock. But they have been doing an amazing job lately.
The first thing I went to find was the NYX Contour Kit. I have been wanting this for awhile, but it was always out of stock. But not this evening. I love my NYX Wonder Stick, but I still want to try this.

Then I saw the Catrice display, and nearly had a stroke. I stood there for a minute taking it all in. The Liquid Metal shadows were the first thing that caught my eye. I got two shades: Mauves Like Jagger and Under Treasure. These are really weird, When swatching them, they felt so dry! I expected them to be a really smooth cream/powder hybrid. Despite being dry, they are very easy to apply and blend. Under Treasure looks beautiful blended across the lid and paired with a black wing. I actually don't hate them. And if they last all day, I might even be very fond of them.

Next I gravitated towards the All Matt Plus Shine Control Makeup and the Colour Correcting Mattifying Powder in the hopes of taming my oily skin, and covering up some redness in the process. I'll go ahead and warn you that the foundation does not have a good shade selection. If you have extremely fair skin or very dark skin, you might not be able to find your shade. One thing I do love about this foundation is the packaging. You think it is going to be one of those annoying foundations you have to carefully pour our (like Maybelline's Fit Me), but no. It has a spatula type contraption that attaches to the lid. Thank you, Catrice! That makes life a little easier. I can't say too much about the powder yet, but it does seem smooth and definitely has a matte finish.

This next product had me really excited. It is the Beautifying Lip Smoother, which reminds me so much of the Clarins Eclat Minute Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector, which I love. So far, this stuff seems to work just as well and is only $4.99. It comes in three shades, but I got one called Cake Pop, which is swatched above with the eyeshadows. It is perfect for wearing to class, around the house, or running errands.

This is serious. I may have found a super budget friendly eyeliner that rivals my love for Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner. And I am obsessed with her liner. But the Catrice Waterproof Eye Liner Pen is already proving to be amazing and just as easy to use. The tip is shaped differently, but it works really well to do a winged liner. It is not dry, doesn't smudge, and is opaque. It is only $5.99.

The Illuminating Highlighter Pen is not for the faint of heart. It is seriously luminous.  One of the employees came over to talk to me about different Catrice products and showed me two different highlighters. She asked me if I preferred luminous highlighters or more matte/subtle. I was all for luminous. She swatched this one and it was love at first site. I don't have anything like this. It is a pinky pearly highlighter that can be quite intense. I am loving it, though.

I was skeptical about the Lash Boost Lash Extension Fibers, but man, are they good. They really do make a positive difference in the way your lashes look. And for only $6.99, too.
Lastly, I got their plumping lip gloss for my mom. She loves a good plumping lip gloss, and apparently this one is pretty good.
I used everything but the plumping lip gloss, and I cannot express how impressed I am with Catrice Cosmetics so far. You definitely need to give them a try if you have not already. Their products are currently on sale online and in store. You can also use the $3.50 off of $10, too. Good deals all around!

I will be testing these products out and review them for you! Up next, I will be reviewing the Kat Von D Metal Shock Eyeshadow in Synergy!
