Tuna Pasta Bake

By Bambileigh

I haven’t done a foodie post for ages now (since last November!) and I made tuna pasta bake the other night so I thought I’d share with you guys! I had to make tuna pasta at work the other night and ever since then I really fancied it – luckily we had a packet mix in the cupboard. If you’re looking for a ‘from scratch’ recipe then this post isn’t for you, but if you’ve never made tuna pasta bake before this may help you realize it’s super easy!

You can find these little packet mixes in pretty much any supermarket for less than £1 and it’s pretty much just the sauce in powder form. It has the method and list of ingredients that you need on the back.

As you can see above it recommends you use 225g of pasta, which actually makes a big batch that will last a couple days. After you’ve cooked the pasta, you need to make the sauce up using 3/4 pints of milk. You can get the sauce all ready made up in a jar and that way you don’t need to cook the pasta beforehand. It does take a little longer if you go with the jar though as you have to put it in the oven for roughly 40 minutes, and if you use a packet you don’t need the oven at all – just the grill.

After you’ve made up the sauce and drained the pasta you just need to mix everything together. I didn’t really pay attention to the recommended amount of tuna, sweetcorn and cheese – I just put two cans of tuna in and a small can of sweetcorn. Then you pour it into a heatproof dish and sprinkle the amount of cheese you want on top! I always crush up a bag of plain crisps and sprinkle them on the top too, they give it a nice crunch!

Then all you have to do is pop it under the grill for a few minutes to melt the cheese and you’re done. How easy was that! Make up a small side salad and you’ve got a nice quick meal! I could eat tuna pasta bake for days!
