The Damned appears to be a very deep berry shade which looks quite scary in the bullet, but once applied to the lips it leaves a gorgeous berry toned pink color that I absolutely love. I think this shade is great for people like me who avoid much color on the lips as it definitely gives your makeup an autumn/winter twist without leaving you with dark lips that really make a statement. The color is nicely pigmented and can be built up to a deeper berry shade, however it can also be worn as a lighter wash of color of the lips and this is shown in the top swatch pictured below.
I'm really happy with the formula of this lipstick as it's creamy and moisturising while still leaving a semi-matte "velvet" finish on the lips. I was worried incase the more obvious looking color of The Damned would bring attention to any cracks or lines in my dry-prone lips but the creamy formula means that it easily glides on and sits nicely on the lips. I find that this particular shade lasts well on the lips and what's even better is that it leaves a pretty berry toned pink stain on the lips as the color fades.
All in all I'm so happy with my latest lipstick purchase and can't believe I waited so long before embracing berry lips for this time of year. I've had this shade on my lips just about every time I've gone out the door and I can see it getting a lot more wear over the next few months. If you're not sure about parting with £15 for the very popular MAC Rebel, I'd really recommend buying The Damned instead as it's almost half the price and pretty much identical in color. You can find The Damned in Topshop stores & also online for £8.
