Top Ten Tuesday | Top Ten Books i Meant to Read in 2014

By Mle_vnc @Backlist_Books

This week's Top Ten Tuesday on The Broke and the Bookish is: Top Ten Books I Read In 2014. But I've got a whole yearly wrap-up thing planned, so instead, I'm going to go with: Top Ten Books I Meant To Read In 2014.
I started off the year with the best of intentions. I was going to blow away my reading goals and catch up on all those awesome books I've been meaning to read for a year or more. 2014 was going to be the year I finally got what everyone else was talking about. And to a certain extent, I did. But there are definitely a bunch I'm still anxiously anticipating - some I even had listed for my 2014 reading challenges - that went unread.
Because these are books I feel like I'm really behind on (some of them are entire series at this point), I don't think there are any on this list that were published in 2014, but they're also not classics. I'm picking books that aren't super old, but have been around long enough that I probably should have read by now. (The 2014 releases I didn't get to will be in my yearly review.)
Here's hoping I manage to check off more of these in 2015!
ADULT FICTION

The Night Circus - Erin MorgensternMe Before You - Jojo MoyesBeautiful Ruins - Jess Walter

The Keeper of Lost Causes - Jussi Adler-OlsenThe Cuckoo's Calling - Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling)A Discovery of Witches - Deborah Harkness
YOUNG ADULT FICTION

The Book Thief - Markus ZusakSpeak - Laurie Halse AndersonCode Name Verity - Elizabeth Wein

Ask the Passengers - A.S. KingPartials - Dan WellsThe Unbecoming of Mara Dyer - Michelle Hodkin

Shadow and Bone - Leigh BardugoCinder - Marissa Meyer Looking for Alaska - John Green
Obviously there are so, so many more, but these are the ones that stand out when I'm thinking back over the books I wish I'd had time to finish this year. I'm currently chipping away at The Cuckoo's Calling and The Night Circus, so there's a chance, however small, that I'll finish one or both before the end of the year!
Are there any other books you guys think I really ought to have read by now? Any faves on this list that you think I have to read in 2015? Any books you went into 2014 intending to read that didn't get read? Share in the comments!
