Top 10 Human Powered Rollercoasters

Taking my little one to a theme park for the first time he was rush, rush, rush, wanting to go on everything right there and then. But I prefer the slower pace of life and when I suggested we go on one of these types of rides listed below it didn’t go down well…

Top 10 Human Powered Rollercoasters

..

Human Powered Rollercoaster – Duisberg

10 – Duisberg

Not so much a rollercoaster, more a path/walkway shaped like one. But you might need to get some speed up for that loop.

Human Powered Rollercoaster – Rotorua

9 – Rotorua

True roller coaster enthusiasts will point out that this is a monorail because it hangs underneath the track, but it has more banked curves and crossovers than any monorail I’ve ever seen.

Human Powered Rollercoaster – Treviso

8 – Treviso

It might not look like a roller coaster, but that really is a track that you have to perform a pedal powered loop the loop on! Good luck with that, I’ll be waiting at the hotdog stand.

Human Powered Rollercoaster – Gunma Prefecture

7 – Gunma Prefecture

On our first of 2 trips to Gunma we come across the world’s only pedal powered runaway train! It’s well worth clicking on the image just to see the video.

Human Powered Rollercoaster – Gunma Prefecture

6 – Gunma Prefecture

We go back to Gunma again and this time for one of the weirdest looking pedal-powered rides you are ever going to see. It looks like something from a Dr. Seuss book!

Human Powered Rollercoaster – California

5 – California

Over in Lego Land, California you have to pedal yourself around this track, but at least you don’t have to make the car yourself.

Human Powered Rollercoaster – Utah

4 – Utah

Made by a bunch of students you need at least 2 people to haul on the rope to get the ride to the top.

Human Powered Rollercoaster – Rhine

3 – Rhine

Helicopters are not the first pedal powered vehicle you might think of. But on this track that’s the only thing that rides!

Human Powered Rollercoaster – Treviso

2 – Treviso

We go back to Treviso again but this time for a roller coaster with a hill climb that you actually have to push the car up the hill yourself!  No luxury chain lift for you!

Human Powered Rollercoaster – Okayama City

1 – Okayama City

Called the Sky Cycle it’s almost 50ft in the air and entirely powered by leg power. But it’s worth the effort because you get a spectacular view of the Shimotsui-Seto Bridge.
