Top 10 Australian Open 2013 Moments

By Thetennistipster @Tennis_Tipster

Plenty of Aussie wrap ups going on, so here’s my top moments of the 2013 Australian Open.

1. Djokovic 3-Peats

It was not as close as we thought in the end, as Nole cemented his reputation as owning the Aussie Open.

2. Doctor Djokovic

When Novak retires from tennis, he can look into being a medical trainer! During a match, profesional prankster Henri Leconte, called for the ‘trainer’. Those guys!

3. Murray Blunts Federer

He may not hex Federer like Nadal, but Murray is pulling away from Rog in their head to head (now 11-9) and it was a convincing final set shut down. Could be a tough year for Rog in Slams.

4. Shane Warne Still Has It

Shane’s catching skills were tested but he came through with flying colors for a one handed catch from the slips!

5. Atomic Tomic

For a change, Bernie came into the tournament on a crest of good news. His talking up of beating Federer attracted the press of course, but he was only gracious in his defeat to the master.

6. Sweet 71

Gilles Simon and Gael Monfils rallied for 71 shots before Monfils gave out. It looked like a warm up session all told, but great to watch players in complete control.

7. Federer notches more Records

The tennis record books might as well be a Google doc, since you can’t keep up with Roger’s milestone breaking. This time he notched up 250 Grand Slam victories.

8. Chardy on the Run

The Aussie Open always throws up some surprises and journeyman Jeremy took down Del Potro and Seppi for the tournament of his life.

9. The Polish Dragon

It looks like we have a new Marat Safin on our hands. Jerzy Janowicz exploded on the umpire after a close line call and it wasn’t even at a crucial stage in the match!

10. Wawrinka Brings It to Djokovic

Stan had a horrible record against Novak, but that did not deter him from playing the match of his life, pushing the Serb to 10-8 in the 5fth. Match point was a delight and the Swiss number 2 won plenty of new fans with his aggressive play.
