This can be a very overwhelming time for beauty bloggers thanks to all of the new holiday releases. One brand that I have learned to stay away from during the Holidays is Too Faced. Don't get me wrong, I think Too Faced is a fantastic brand. However, I find that a lot of their limited edition products can be lacking in quality compared to their permanent products. I went back and forth about getting this new Melted Matte shade for two reasons. One is that I have another color (Queen B) and based on that one alone, I didn't want another shade. Secondly, Candy Cane is a bright pink. Thats all fine and well, but I don't like wearing pink this time of year. Luckily my mom convinced me to get it because she knows I like reviewing new things for you guys and plus the packaging is adorable. Oh, and it claims to smell like a peppermint mocha, which I love a million times more than any pumpkin spice latte.
Enough with the idle chatter and on to the actual review. Candy Cane is a gorgeous vibrant pink with a touch of red. It is basically a red for people who are scared of red. It is beautiful.
Excuse that little patch of dry skin. I didn't exfoliate prior to application. Even though this formula isn't drying, prep is still a good idea.
I am willing to say that this is the best liquid lipstick I have ever tried, and my mom (who hates liquid lipsticks) also loves it. It applies insanely well. It isn't patchy at all, it doesn't tug, doesn't settle into fine lies, it is perfectly opaque, and it doesn't accentuate dryness. I also noticed that lips looked a little fuller than usual, so I grabbed the box and read more about it. Apparently this stuff also has a no-sting pluming effect, which is an awesome bonus that sets it apart from other liquid lipsticks. It also has avocado oil, vitamin E, and hyaluronic filling spheres to keep lips hydrated. When a liquid lipstick claims to be feel hydrating and non-drying, I am always skeptical. However, Too Faced actually managed to deliver that promise. This stuff will not budge, yet it never feels drying. It is also not 100% transfer proof, but transfer is very minimal. For instance, I had chips, salsa, and a chimi rica for dinner last night and it looked like I had just applied Candy Cane. I can smile and talk without feeling like my lips are going to fall of my face. It doesn't crumble, bleed, or do that annoying separation thing in the center of the lips.
I don't know what kind of sorcery Too Faced used to create Candy Cane, because as far as I can tell, it is the exact same as their permanent shades of Melted Matte. But Candy Cane is a thousand times better.
Now for the packaging and scent. I already love the packaging of the Melted Matte's. I like that the bottle is see through and it has a different shape, so it is easy to spot. The difference with Candy Cane is the top. It has red and pink spirals (like a candy cane), so it is very festive. It does smell like a peppermint mocha. Albeit it doesn't smell as delicious as the real thing, but you can 100% tell that is what the scent is. My mom actually picked up on it right away and she doesn't drink coffee.
Even the box is cute.
So, this gets a A+ from both my mom and I. I am thrilled she convinced me to buy it and I highly, highly recommend getting it. It is $21 and you can find it on Sephora's site and Too Faced's site. I also see this being the kind of shade that would work for everyone.
