Tomislav Goluban feat.Toni Starešinić: Velvet Space Love

Posted on the 08 June 2018 by Hctf @hctf

Croatian musicians Tomislav Goluban (harmonica) and Toni Starešinić (keyboards) teamed up for an instrumental progressive sci-fi blues album. Velvet Space Love sounds like a long lost artifact from the early days of electronic music, when the possibilities of new technology were used at will, without giving a fuck about genres. Why not invite a classically trained soprano to add some vocals? Enter Josipa Lončar for Hypersleep Dream. Pay a nod to big band era? The jazzy swing of The Busiest Woman I've Ever Loved takes care of that.

After nine tracks they appear to have run out of ideas and the album grinds to a halt with three os-so dance remixes that can not hold a candle to the original versions. Thankfully all's that ends well when they return with a spooky cover of Ennio Morricone's Man With A Harmonica.

Velvet Space Love is a self-released album (digital, CD). Buy it from their website.
