Tirur is an important town situated in south India in the state of Kerala which has been growing popular as a tourist spot in the state. The town lays 28 kms westward of the city of Malappuram. Besides the tourism that pulls the tourists here the place is also famous for the beetle leaves and the fish. Actually Tirur is a major business hub in the region. The region has got good literacy rate higher than the national average of about 80%. Tirur is one of the first places in the state where the railroad was laid down by the British.
Moving ahead with the places that can interest the tourists we reach the Thirunavaya at a distance of about 7 kms south of Tirur. It is a major historical place in area. It is known for the three major temples dedicated to the Trimurti (gods of creation) that find mention in the Hindu mythology. this place is located by theBharathapuzha River.
There are a number of holy Hindu shrines in Tirur as the Triprangode Kalasamharamurthy Temple, the Vyrankodu Bhagavathi Temple etc. there is the small town Puthiyangadi which is considered very much holy by the Muslims. This small town is filled with plenty of small wonders for the tourists. Not very far from Tirur have we got a lovely spot where the Bharathapuzha and the Tirur rivers meet pour into the sea. Here we find a small gorgeous beach which is very much picturesque.
