Tipsy Tales (Polish Picks) - 08 February 2014 - KB Shimmer & Zoya

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig
Well, I failed at posting my polish picks again last week (I only had one), so they're here this week! :) Good thing too because I've had the same polish on my nails all this week too! That's because I spent so much time on it, and I like it that much, that I didn't want to waste my efforts. :) But let's start at the beginning, shall we?

I ordered a few polishes from KB Shimmer as a Birthday treat and had to wear one of them immediately. My first choice was Berry Patch. It is a beautiful baby pink that is chocked full of tiny round and hexagonal magenta, hexagonal navy, and smaller hexagonal holographic silver glitters. I used 3 coats in an effort to distribute the larger hex glitters better, but they were still a pain and I didn't fiddle with the placement of them too much. The polish was actually completely opaque in 2 coats, just the glitter placement was a little difficult. Regardless, it is so beautiful and I absolutely adore it! I highly recommend it! Actually, every KB Shimmer polish I've tried has been outstanding, so definitely give her Etsy store a browse!

I left this on until Super Bowl Sunday, which turned into Manicure Sunday for me. :) I decided to get fancy with my nails and did a double stripe. These two colors are from Zoya and came in my most recent order. When I saw them next to each other, I thought they would look fantastic together, so I decided to pair them…and I think I made a good choice! :) The navy shade is Sailor and the fuchsia color is called Tia. They had kind of a preppy vibe to me, which is what inspired the kinda preppy stripes. I'm not gonna lie, this took me ages. It shouldn't have, but it did! :) I improvised with some painter's tape and scissors after alternating the shades on my entire nails. Not the best way to go about it, but it worked in the end. They're not perfect, but I really like the end result. The colors are beautiful too! :) Sailor is a true navy, but it doesn't look black on the nails like so many navys seem to. Tia is a nice burst of magenta or fuchsia…I really don't know the difference between those shades…and it has just a teeny tiny bit of shimmer in it. It's barely noticeable, which I think is good since it's such a bold pink. It's just enough to keep he pink from falling flat, if that makes sense. It's really pretty! And the two seem to complement each other beautifully! Kind of a modern take on a nautical-inspired look that's not too Spring-y, but a nice change from the drabness of Winter. I should also add that I only started getting a tiny bit of chipping near the tips on Thursday!!! That's impressive wear time! :)

So there you have the past two weeks in nail polish land! :) Hope you enjoyed and hopefully I will return again next week! ;)
