42 is a very special number, in that it is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. Timberland, the creator of the iconic Yellow Boots, has now attained this knowledge as 2015 celebrated its 42 anniversary.
To mark this milestone, the British brand launched their concept store in Raffles City. While Timberland stores across the world, including the 15 other Timberland stores in Singapore, follow the same design, this concept store breaks the mold by bringing forth the essence of Regent Street, one of London’s oldest streets.
The brick walls will carry you all the way to England, an experience completed by the warm wood decking. These elements will make you feel as if you are in an artisan shop rather than in the middle of the bustling City Hall. I particularly liked the red brick shoe display shelves that ooze with British posh, while neatly highlighting the footwear on them.
Guest of honour, ex-MTV VJ Utt was also there to grace the scene! June, eat your heart out...
The concept store carries a few special features that are worth checking out, such as the shoe configurator. Those who find the Timberland shoes range too standard, or who are simply looking at making their shoes more unique will be able to customise every aspect of their footwear on the computer. From the material, stitching to the sole and the laces’ designs, this service truly gives you a bespoke Timberland experience, that you can sign off with your name.
In addition to the shoe configurator, the concept store counts a dedicated Shoe Care Specialist; a Yellow Boot fanatic who pledged to bring your Timberland shoes’ youth back. Using the brand’s own products specially designed to be used with the environmentally materials of their footwear, the Shoe Care Specialist will scrub, brush and protect your shoes to not only bring back their original colour, but also their waterproofing.
The inauguration of the concept store was all highlighted by the 2015 Fall / Winter collection called Black Forest. Marrying the dark winter wood colours and the global Timberland charcoal fashion trend, the grayscale collection brings together nature and a sleek cosmopolitan style. While the complete outfits might be rather hot to wear in Singapore, Black Forest’s finely detailed elements can be taken independently to complement a sleek street style.
