Prince Fielder traded for Ian Kinsler.
They may be another player involved.
Could have a ripple effect for the Pirates. The Rangers were considered the front runners for Loney so with them presumably out maybe his price falls.

I dont love James Loney. I dont hate him, but I just am not really that excited about his profile and what he brings to the table. Getting a 1B this offseason who can have a good impact may prove quite difficult.

I'm in the same boat about Loney. He is a fine player and in a platoon with Sanchez would be ok but I'm thinking he is going to sign for at least 2/14 and possibly even a 3rd year. At that price I think I would rather see if Morneau would be open to returning on a one year deal. For what it is worth my feeling is the Pirates are going to trade for Ike Davis and have him platoon with Sanchez at 1B. Not a solution I'm thrilled with but I have a funny feeling it is whats going to happen.
The 1B position has really gone down hill in recent years so finding an impact player will indeed be difficult. On the trade market aside from Davis I see Lind, Trumbo, LaRoche, Alonso, Moreland and Morrison as players who may be moved an none of them are really impact type guys. I mean the only real shot might be if the Giants would make Belt available but that seems like a long shot and would come with a huge price tag.
