"Two Top 15 teams, Boston College and Quinnipiac, will be featured along with local host Robert Morris and Ferris State at the 5th annual Three Rivers Classic college hockey tournament Dec. 29-30 at PPG Paints Arena.
Boston College (13-6-1) is currently ranked No. 5 in the country and Quinnipiac (10-7-2) is ranked no. 13. Both teams reached the NCAA Frozen Four in 2016, when Quinnipiac defeated BC, 3-2, in the national semifinals before losing to North Dakota in the NCAA championship game.
BC and Quinnipiac will meet at 4:30 on Dec. 29 and Robert Morris will take on Ferris State at 7:30.
The championship and consolation games will be played at 4:30 and 7:30 on Dec. 30.
Robert Morris University
The Robert Morris Colonials will try to defend their Three Rivers Classic championship this year as they seek their third title overall in the annual holiday tournament at PPG Paints Arena.
The Colonials will face off against Ferris State, the alma mater of Penguins forward Chris Kunitz, on Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m. with the hopes of returning to the championship game.

Boston College
Boston College is no stranger to winning, nor are the Eagles strangers to PPG Paints Arena and the Three Rivers Classic.
Boston College, led by tournament MVP Johnny Gaudreau, now an NHL All-Star for the Calgary Flames, defeated Penn State, 8-2, to claim the 2013 Three Rivers Classic crown, and it looks to win a second title this year.

Quinnipiac University
The Quinnipiac Bobcats ended last season as the runner-up in the NCAA Tournament. Now the Bobcats look to shake off a rough end to the first half of their 2016-17 season in a Frozen Four rematch on the opening day of the Three Rivers Classic.
The Bobcats will open the tournament against Boston College in the teams' second-ever meeting. The first was in last year's Frozen Four.

Ferris State University
Penguins' forward Chris Kunitz has played 229 games at PPG Paints Arena over the course of his 13-year NHL career. His alma mater, Ferris State, has never played a contest in the Steel City.
That, however, will change when Kunitz's Bulldogs square off against host-school Robert Morris University on Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m. on the opening night of the Three Rivers Classic.
