The Wall to Puray Falls – When Bagets Meets Bigote Bikers

By Thesilentpal @thesilentpal

This is the day when a new young bike club is formed and this is the very day when Bagets (youngsters) meets Bigote (bearded man) and so the bike adventures begin.

Let me introduce to you from Left to Right [Photo Above]:

  1. Exequel “Mikmik” Pablo is the groups extremist/daredevil of the group that always do extra stuff during rides often extreme ones.
  2. Second to the right the guy in gray is the owner of Giant MTB no other than Engr. Elvin Reyes that always buy my bathroom jokes, thanks man haha.
  3. Meet the know it all guy and always asking question ala Albert Einstein member Laurence Legaspi one of the vocal assistant leader of the group that got sidelined after our epic Manila – Baguio City Ride & Puray Falls Part 2.
  4. Then there’s the super mega duper athlete/Mr. Pogi and my entrusted Leader of Team BMB Bikers Maynard Choi Degollacion the trail runner, the podium finisher, 100% handsomeness, my c0-navigator and a religious friend.

Don’t forget me, yours truly, Kalongkong Hiker this kids sees me as a motivation, inspirational and comedic youngest member and navigator sometimes sweeper of the group though the truth is I’m way older than them and I am not shy away to tell you that I am 31 years old already by the way. Call me Manny, Piolo and Pau if you want just be nice to me!

Meet our bikes at the side street vendor of bike parts and garments in Timberland.

Rest stop for them. They did ride from Mandaluyong City to Timberland.

Prep time before we ascend Timberland Heights gate.

Daang Bakal – C6 Road Intersection, where bikers meet.

Start of the long and steep hill climbs gong to The Wall.

You can see joggers and walkers too here in Timberland.

Selfie Time. It is hard to get a photo of you if you’re the camera man of the group.

The start of the steep climb. The Wall 1

It’s not the end of the uphill climb yet, most of the time bikers, joggers and runners alike stop at the middle of this steep climb especially for beginners.

Some bikers cares more of their safety and don’t need the speed and euphoria of going down the hill so they carry their bikes going down to safety.

Meet my new friends and how they struggle to pedal up.

Of course, I waited for them as I share a uphill 101 and some gear shifting techniques.

Photo taken by Elvin “Jacklyn Jose” Reyes.

Meet the super mamaw rider/trail runner Maynard Choi

The Gate of Timberland Heights that leads to Wall No. 2 and then to the trails namely Basic Trail, Roxas Trail, Blue Zone, Green Zone, White Zone and at the Giant trails.

The last stop before finally going to the trails of Puray Falls. This is the end of our journey. We need to get back because others don’t have their flash lights and head lights and if we continue to bike down to the trails we might get lost at the pitch dark trails of Puray. Good thing we meet a veteran biker that I only remember his last name Beltran who knows and been into most exciting trails of the Philippines. Thank you so much for sharing the fun of biking and we are hoping to meet you on the trails some day!

When the young bikers gets advice from a veteran bikers it’s AMAZING, it took us hours of chika galore to them and trying to ask anything about bikes, trails and gears.

The final rest stop and meryenda.

A picture at my crib on the background.

Me is getting ready for another fun and wearing my “Nike We Run Manila” shirt.

See you guys later okay because I am running next!
