A few weeks ago I visited the Shard and went to Oblix for dinner, a restaurant on the 32nd floor. Click to see the food and spectacular views!

For starters we got tuna tartate (£14.50) and roasted peppers (£7). Decent sized portions, although would have preferred to have paid less and received less as the flavor got slightly boring.

For mains we both got diablo chicken (£18) with a creamy garlic sauce (we both left this) and spinach with a cheesy coating (I left this too).  Disappointing flavours, we both would have been happier with Nandos, yikes! The side of fries (£5.50) tasted like they came from a local chippy, but the orange and ginger carrots (£5) were OK.

The desserts, although they looked lovely, had prices which were so obscene we didn’t bother ordering anything.

The views were very impressive. We weren’t very close to the windows when we were eating, sadly, and got told to move out the way when we were taking pictures at the end of our meal…

Personally, I thought the restaurant was hugely overpriced as they also charged £5 cover charge for each person, and then added on 12.5% service charge. This would have been OK were we given a window seat and also if the restaurant hadn’t been SO LOUD that we could actually hear each other talking. We were having to shout at each other, and it was only made worse when the band started playing.

If this wasn’t bad enough, there were lots of people at the bar blocking the way to the toilets, and they also kept nudging me when I was eating which made it a horrid and cramped experience. I was loathsome at paying so much money for a poor experience, average food, and bad atmosphere, and wouldn’t recommend eating here.
