The Twentieth Annual Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race

The Twentieth Annual Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race kicks off June 19th 2016 and finishes 52 days later on August 9th. The nine men and three women will begin their attempt to master the 0.5488 mile (883 m) loop which they will run 5649 times to reach the goal of the longest certified race on the planet – 3100 miles.

Proceedings get underway at 6 am Sunday morning at 84th Avenue between 168th Street and 164th Place. Nearest subway is Parsons & 169th St on the F Train.

The Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race was founded by Sri Chinmoy out of his wish to create an opportunity for runners to discover the limits of their capacities and to try to go beyond them. Hence the name “Self-Transcendence”.

  • The runners have 18 hours a day to average the 59.6 miles a day necessary to finish within the 52 day time limit.
  • Meals, drinks and snacks are provided trackside with places to rest and take breaks.
  • The runners are visited by therapists throughout the race on a regular basis.
  • Accommodation is provided locally as the course closes at midnight.
