The Sugarettes: Destroyers of Worlds

Mariska Louman, Joep van Son, Marjolein Kooijman & Marnix van den Broek are The Sugarettes, a noise pop garage band from Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Their second full-length Destroyers Of Worlds is a collection of lo-fi songs with a sound and feel that is about halfway the Pixies and the B52s. Plenty of room for mistakes, but that's not a problem if you can incorporate them in the song and act if it was deliberate. This is a band that goes for the vibe and the groove. It's fast. And fun.

Caveat: they like to use song titles that are awfully familiar, but Rave One and Please Please Me are originals too. Buyers who picked up their firtst 2007 album Love & Other Perversities were aware of that already, when the band used Jolene and Enola Gay ....

Destroyers of Worlds is released on Subroutine Records. Digital (pay-what-you-want) thru Bandcamp.
