The Shut-Ups: Just Another Generation

Posted on the 27 March 2018 by Hctf @hctf

Neo-New Wave band The Shut-Ups have a knack for concise power pop songs. Their new full-length Just Another Generation is a concept album about time and they are in a hurry to get get through the songs, sometimes even at breakneck speed (This Band is Gonna Break Up), but they never drop the ball, serving up hooks and smart vocal harmonies like they are going out of style.

Everybody seems to be rushing these days, but the Atlanta-Athens quintet were keen enough to sit back and share some sharp observations about the state of things. Recommended if you like Look Sharp-era Joe Jackson, The Strokes, Weezer, and They Might Be Giants.

The Shut-Ups:
Don Condescending: vocals, keyboards
Ben Spraker: vocals, guitar
Thaddeus Thompson: bass
Tony Jenkins: drums
Jason NeSmith: more guitar
