The River Rock Baptists Vs. the Field Stone Baptists?

By Vickilane

There are a number of different types of Baptist churches -- often a new church came into being over a disagreement on some point of doctrine. Now and then you'll see two Baptist churches side by side and one will be the New and/or Reformed Something or Other Baptist Church while the other is the Old/True/Original Something or Other Baptist Church.
I mean, there are lots of different sorts of Baptists: Reformed Baptists, Welcoming and Affirming Baptists, Bible Baptists, Hardshell Baptists, Missionary Baptists, Christian Unity Baptists, Conservative Baptists, Continental Baptists, Evangelical Baptists, Free Will Baptists, Full Gospel Baptists, Fundamental Baptists, Six-Principle Baptists, Landmark Baptists, Liberty Baptists, Mainstream Baptists, Primitive Baptists, Old Regular Baptists, Separate Baptists, Seventh Day Baptists, Sovereign Grace Baptists, Two- Seed-in-the-Spirit Baptists, United Baptists, World Baptists . . . and that's just a partial selection from a longer list (see Wikipedia) of Baptists in North America.
This pretty little church down the branch from us is a Free Will Baptist church. But when, some years ago, they put in culverts so that the congregation didn't have to park on the road, I found myself wondering if I was witnessing yet another schism  -- River Rock Baptists versus Field Stone Baptists? Or was it just two different approaches to the job at hand? Both seem to be holding up just fine.
