The Players - Fantasy Picks

By Eatsleepgolf @eatsleepgolf

This week promises to be a great one as far as golf is concerned, with The Players Championship kicking off from TPC Sawgrass in Florida.  What is often refereed to as the 'fifth major', The Players attracts many of the sports top athletes, making for some fierce competition.  I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Golf Channel Media Call this morning where the GC team provided some insight into the days ahead.  To my surprise, I think the favorite seemed to be Matt Kuchar.   Although he didn't make my short list, with all the challenges presented by TPC Sawgrass, it's tough to say who will have what it takes to win the 2013 Players Championship.
Before we dive into the field, here's a great intro video, showcasing the excitement of The Players...

Interestingly enough in the last five years, this event has been won by players from five different countries.  For this reason, couple with their great performances so far this season, I've picked a pretty diverse group to watch out for.
Graeme McDowell:  Having rested since his playoff victory at Harbour Town I think McDowell will be ready to go this week in Florida. Although he doesn't have a great history at this course, I think he'll be prepared to change that this year.
Lee Westwood:  Gaining momentum as the season progresses, Westwood  was T10 in Houston, T8 at the Masters and T4 last week at Wells Fargo.  If this trend continues, we could very well see Westwood playing some of his best golf this week.
Adam Scott:  After taking some time off following his Masters victory, I think Scott should be ready to hit the ground running.  He knows what it takes to compete at this event, winning The Players in 2004 and has added three top 15 finishes since.
Jim Furyk:  The local Floridian is very familiar with this course and has only missed the cut twice in his last 16 appearances TPC Sawgrass.  His results here have included eight top 25s; couple with some great play this season makes him an excellent candidate to be in the hunt this week.
Here's a look at my completed fantasy picks:
