The Liebster Award

By Polysingleish @PolySingleish

Happy 2013! A little while ago SeattlePolyChick nominated me for this fancy-ass blog award called the LiebsterAward. Woo! Thankyou lady! You should all check out her blog, it’s pretty awesome.

So, here’s the rules for accepting this award:

  • When one receives the award, one posts 11 random facts about oneself and answers the 11 questions asked by the person who nominated you.
  • Pass the award onto 11 other blogs (while making sure one notifies the blogger that one nominated them!)
  • One writes up 11 NEW questions directed towards YOUR nominees.
  • One is not allowed to nominate the blog who nominated one’s own blog!
  • One pastes the award picture into ones blog.

11 Random Things about me, PolySingleish

  1.  I’m dyslexic, though it’s mild enough that I went undiagnosed until I was 18.
  2.  I know how to find water in the desert.
  3.  I’m afraid of heights.
  4.  For my 12th birthday, I tried to make a Star Trek film.
  5. As a teenager, I nearly wandered into a mine field. Years later, I also nearly stepped on a mine.
  6. I have miscarried twice, within a space of three months. Hard as it was, I count that experience as one of the great catalysing forces in my life, and I wouldn’t be who I am today or living the life I do had it not been for what happened around that time.
  7. The first time I realized I was definitely attracted to women was watching the video for Natalie Imbruglia’s “Smoke”. Years later, I met her in real life, and was so tongue tied once I realized that it was actually her, I could do nothing but smile quietly, unable to contribute anything more to the amazing spiritual conversation we had been having whilst washing dishes at the yoga centre we both went to.
  8. I can play classical guitar. None of that chord strumming stuff where teenage boys try to impress the girls by playing Wonderwall. Nope, I play Greensleeves and cool things like that.
  9. I have dined with royalty, on several occasions.
  10.  I know the basics of sword fighting, though admittedly my skills are a little rusty.
  11. If I could, I would live on a diet of mainly french fries, pasta, ice cream, and brie. Mmm brie!

11 Answers from Me

  1. What are you most proud of?  Being open and honest about who I am, and loving who I am. I spent years with guilt about it, and hiding my instincts because I was told it was ‘wrong’.
  2. Who inspires you? People who are authentic, humble, and loving.
  3. What is your favorite holiday? Yearly calendar holidays? Probably Christmas, because of cosiness, presents, and lots of food.
  4. Who are some of your favorite authors? I love poetry, so Rumi, Wordsworth, Kabir, Khalil Gibran, Shakespeare all spring to mind first.
  5. Why do you write a blog? Um, to keep track of who I am dating, and to help all my flovers keep track too? lol. Just kidding. I wanted to share my experiences and thoughts because I thought maybe people would be able to relate to my perspectives, and I couldn’t find anyone else out there with quite the same approach to polyamory that I have- at least, no one writing about it.
  6. What did you want to be as a kid? According to my Dr Seuss “My Book About Me”, I wanted to be a cowboy, but I think I had cowboys confused with Indiana Jones. I loved that hat and my dad had one like it and I wanted to wear it all the time. Such a tomboy I was
  7. Who would play you in a movie about your life?  (in your dreams) If we could build a time machine? Elizabeth Taylor. Hands down.
  8. Name 5 really great musicians or bands. Only five? Well, if you are poly and haven’t heard of The Wet Spots, please go check them out! For general listening pleasure, try these on for size: Adham Sheikh, Mike Oldfield, Medieval Baebes, oh and Natalie Imbruglia, of course- she’s an amazing singer songwriter.
  9. Do you ever get jealous? Yes. Of cats. I would like to be a cat. Next lifetime I will be a longhaired black cat.
  10. Do you believe in love that lasts forever? To quote Shakespeare, “Love is not love that alters when it alteration finds”. Love is the glue of the universe. Infatuation… that’s something entirely different in my books.
  11. Anything odd that turns you on? Actually, music. The right music can bring me closer to orgasm immediately.
