The King Dukes: Numb Tongues

Posted on the 14 October 2019 by Hctf @hctf

The King Dukes have found a way to mix blues with soul, an almost forgotten art that somehow has managed to survive in their hometown Bristol. On their debut album Numb Tongues they strut with confidence (I Gotta Go and Kids Gloves) and ponder killing a girl's father during courtship (Caril-Ann). It's not all machismo however. Songs like the tender Dying Man and the lament Coming Right Back for Your Heart show the band's softer side.

With brass and bravado they are the band you hope to discover playing on the cramped stage of your favorite bar. Toe-tapping tunes that offer solace and joy simultaneously. The King Dukes swing and rock, a tight-knit unit powered by instant rapport and top-shelf musicianship.

The King Dukes:
Marc Griffiths: guitar, vocals
Dan Clibery: drums
Mandrake Fantastico: bass
Henry Slim: harmonica, Hammond organ
