Honda’s ninth generation Civic looks great on the outside and offers environmentally conscious customers improved fuel efficiency across the range of six different models.
Although some critics have said the new honda civic 2012 is too similar to be called a next generation, the Honda designers have made a series of small adjustments to the exterior and interior which produces a stylish, more refined car than its predecessor. Their main focus, however, has been to increase the fuel efficiency – reading correctly the most important priority for today’s environmentally and economically aware consumers.
There are six different Civic 2012 models to suit different driving appetites. The greenest of the bunch include the Civic Hybrid, the Civic Natural Gas and the Civic HF. HF – if you’re wondering -stands for ‘high fuel efficiency’.
The Civic Hybrid is available in the States, but not yet in the UK. It reaches 45mpg in a combined cycle and has a 1.8 liter engine and, for the first time for Honda, a lithium-ion battery.
The Natural Gas model has already won Green Car of the Year 2012 – receiving this accolade at the LA Auto Show. Drivers will spend 30 – 50 per cent less on natural gas than on petrol, and the mpg average is 27 in the city, and 38 on the highway. And for eight years in a row, the Civic GX NGV has been named ‘Greenest Vehicle’ by ACEEE (the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy).
And for those drivers who like the idea of environmentally-friendly, but want to stick to a straight petrol engine, then the Civic HF offers a perfect match. Its fuel efficiency is just behind the Civic Hyrbid – with an average 41 mpg, only four miles fewer than the hybrid.
