The Choker Trend

By Dana Mae Lopez @modgrab

Trends often come and go but if they return again- it will be slightly different from the original.

Like the comeback of the 90’s Choker.

The choker trend has been going on and I first saw it in a Korean drama (She Was Pretty) last September and to some music videos. It wasn’t a hype last year but ever since it’s first appear from hollywood celebrities (like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid) and on fashion runaways. It became the official start of the choker trend. The choker this year is a bit different from the original.  I love the various forms from metal, rhinestone, leather to thick and thin velvet straps.

Chokers are very versatile and can add different types of mood to your look. For instance, The thick velvet strap can bring a dramatic vibe to a simple tube top, layering chokers for boho and thin velvet for a grunge inspired look. Here’s how to style:

1. The Basic Choker – a simple strap with one or two beads is a start to follow the trend. You can also use ribbon as chokers and add your favorite pendant -like a flower or heart if you want more girly! 2. Ribbon Velvet Choker– I love love the ribbon! You can DIY this choker with a velvet strap and some pendant. Best to wear with a plunging neckline or a tube top. 3. Choker with chains – a clever mix of metal and fabric. How to wear our Choker?
