I'll start off by saying that I have never been a“nude lip” kind of girl. I remember that when I was in high school there were these girls who, on a daily basis wore a generous amount of orange foundation and heavy eye makeup paired with what looked like foundation or concealer on their lips – and it probably was. As you could imagine, although it was a popular look it was definitely not my cup of tea, especially because back then, I wore minimal makeupwith a “less is more” attitude (oh how times have changed!). Anyways, when I really started getting into makeup I thought that I should at least try a nude lipstick. And to be honest, for a very long time, I was disappointed. Lately however, I guess my taste has changed a lot, and the quality of drugstore lip products has come a long way. Now I find myself reaching for nude lipsticks quite often especially to pair with dark eye makeup. Still, I do prefer more sheer or darker nudes, rather than true skin tone nudes that give you that “zombie look.” So without further ado, these are some of what I think are the best affordable nude lipsticks! (warning! these will all look the same!)
Cover Girl's Delish
Cover Girl's Delish
Delish #255, by Cover Girl: This is my least favorite nude lipstick because it has very prominent Orange/brown undertones. Despite this, it is still a very beautiful, unique color that would be a great nude for women with warmer skin tones. The formula is creamy, moisturizing and the color is very saturated when worn on the lips. It's a subtle, yet sophisticated color that is perfect for Fall.Rimmel London's Nude Delight
Rimmel London's Nude Delight
Nude Delight #700,a moisture renew lipstick by Rimmel London: A very popularnude, perhaps one of their best sellers. This is my go to nude lipstick and I often get compliments when I wear it, as it does not wash out the complexion. It’s a color that reminds me of something Kim Kardashian would wear or a model from the 1960’s. Nude Delight is a striking nude with a bright pastel peach tone to it. The formula is also creamy and pigmented however it does have a very strong “lipstick” scent.
Revlon's Creme Brulee
Revlon's Creme Brulee
Creme Brulee #095, a Colorburst Lip Butter by Revlon: The Revlon lip butters are in my opinion the best lipsticks at the drugstore and Creme Brulee is perhaps the most popular color and while Iwouldn’t say that I have a specific favourite, this is currently my most worn nude lipstick. It's a sheer yet buildable cool toned beige nude that is moisturizing and lightweight with a glossy finish and a subtle vanilla scent. Another thing I love about this lipstick is that it looks very natural and allows the natural shape and color of your lips to show through. The color just glides on to the lips smoothly like a lip balm. Its a beautiful, low maintenance, everyday lip color that is a higher quality version of Just Enough Buff.Revlon's Just Enough Buff
Revlon's Just Enough Buff
Just Enough Buff #613, a Super Lustrous Lipstick by Revlon: Before Creme Brulee, Just Enough Buff was my most worn nude lipstickwhich I still love and wear but will not be repurchasing. Like Creme Brulee, Just Enough Buffis a sheer yet buildable nude color except that it haswarmer undertones and slight silver shimmer/glitter. The formula is a bit dry and the texture is just slightly gritty because of the shimmer, but it actually feels good on the lips. Overall, I still recommend this lipstick, it will last longer than Creme Brulee and you get more product so you will have it much longer and if you prefer shimmer on the lips then you might want to get this one instead.
Revlon's Soft Nude
Revlon's Soft Nude
Soft Nude#070 a Colorbrust Lipstick by Revlon: This is a beautiful lip color that has been called the best nude lipstick at the drugstore. While it's not my favorite and perhaps the least wearable, it is still lovely and different from the other nudes that I have. It's a very white based pink toned nude that looks best when worn very sheer. The formula is creamy and moisturizing and it does apply slightly sheer and glossy. I think its a very cute color to wear on the lips and can look very youthful andfresh so Its great for high school girls who want to rock nude lips without looking like they have smeared concealer over their mouths.
