If you're looking for an inexpensive and all-natural way to rejuvenate your body, dry skin brushing may be your answer. Every single day, we get up and brush our teeth and we often brush our hair, but we forget that the most essential organ that could also benefit from being brushed, which is often ignored is the skin.

Dry skin brushing is good for the lymphatic system and helps to diminish cellulite, soften skin by exfoliating dead skin cells, help the body to detoxify, increases circulation of the blood, rejuvenates blood cells and even stimulates hormones. The only thing that you need to buy for this therapy is a good, natural hair or natural fiber brush to stroke up and down your skin. You can find a natural hair or fiber brush from your local health food store, or the bath or toiletries section of a drugstore. I purchased mine from my local Mom's.  I prefer using the natural hair or fibers because they don’t stress the skin like some synthetic type brushes, which can irritate the skin or cause abrasions.  Opting for a brush with a long handle would be helpful for using in hard to reach areas.
What's the best process for dry skin brushing?
You can begin by brushing from the bottom and moving upward in slow, circular motions, always toward the heart. Brushing every area of the skin is ideal, including the feet, back, hands, breast and chest area, shoulders and neck. Start with the top of your feet and move up the legs, thighs, buttocks and so on. After brushing the skin, try soaking in a warm bath of lavender essential oil and coconut oil.
