The 90s Taste It Again for the First Time. The Bomber is BACK

The Reason To Dress

I took this photo just to give you an idea of the details of the outfit that I wore to the Màt Performance Art Event in Vignola for the week dedicated to Mental Health Awareness,  I wrote all about it here.

This photo was an after thought. Sorry!  I should have taken a nice photo outside at the event, but for some reason, I still feel silly taking outfit photos in public in front of people.

Normal people hardly take photographs, and I realize I’m not normal.  I live for my camera.  I live for photo documentation, and have this theory that if I don’t take a photo it’s like the event or memory never happened.

I love having documentation that  I lived that moment, I was there.  But other people can go for months without ever taking a photo.  I just don’t know how.

What I Wore

This outfit was inspired by an image I saw in an online magazine, where the model wore a bomber jacket, skinny jeans and heels.  I love the juxtaposition of a tough  bomber with the femininity of heels and skinny jeans.

Oh God, did I just give away that I have a degree in Visual Art?  I think only people who studied visual art in university use the word juxtaposition….. I can’t believe how frequently “juxtaposition” made its way into my everyday conversations in university and now it feels so strange to write.

My Bomber

I’m wearing a plaid bomber by “Jack by BB Dakota”, a great brand that you can find online at Bluefly.  I got this here years ago so it’s no longer in stock.  BUT you’re in luck, since plaid ANYTHING, is all the rage this fall

If you follow the fashion bloggers in the blogosphere you know that Stella McCartney has made major waves with her big plaid coat and amazing check printed sweaters.

So all of a sudden checkered anything is back,  especially that 90s red and black plaid.  (Why does plaid NEVER seem to go away?)

I have to admit,  I’ve used this Bomber a LOT over the years.  Even though it has a round and “bulky” shape it is actually a sexy alternative because the elastic on the bottom cinches in at the waist, it hides any mummy tummy bulge you may have going on and you can pair it with a nice pair of jeans and show off your butt!

This trend is hot right now, but something tells me the bomber is here to stay, so I’ve compiled a list of some great internet finds that are on sale if you want to score this look.

1) Plaid “Remix” Bomber - Forever21.com 2) Bellfield Bomber – Asos Italia  3) Lucca Couture Bomber – Asos Italia (ON SUPER MEGA SALE 35 euro and not 101 euro!!!) 4) Cheap Monday Bomber – Asos Italia (on sale 61 euro reg. price 134!)

My Top , Pants and Shoes

My top is a button down body suit by Benetton.

My jeans are James Jeans bought here.  James Jeans are awesome, this is the description from the maker “Cured to perfection and fit to flatter, James Jeans are what all the celebrities and fashionistas alike are wearing”.

They should have added “seriously give you a great butt”!  They are not cheap, we’re talking $145 for a pair of jeans, but you can get them on sale usually for between $80 and $100.  Is this a lot of money?….yes!  Is looking great in a pair of jeans worth investing in?….yes.  These are CATEGORY 1′s for me….remember my whole rant about category 1 and category 2 clothes.  You will always need/use/love a good pair of high quality jeans that makes you feel amazing for a long time.

My shoes are Asos Italia, and if you want to know what I paid for them write to me on twitter or facebook! You won’t believe it!

Anyone else have an old bomber they never thought they’d wear again but are totally rocking this season? What do you think of the whole 90s trend?  Did you invest in a big oversized coat?
