Thanks, Mean Joe.

I haven't posted in a while, been really busy at the restaurant, but I've still been lurking!
I went to the game tonight against the Ratbirds, and just wanted to comment on Joe Greene.
The Steelers really did it right in retiring Joe Greene's jersey. The ceremony was exactly as it should have been. Mean Joe was all class. Never took any credit, instead pointing out everyone else who "helped him become who he was as a man and a player." Singled out Ernie Stautner as the "Original Mr. Steeler." Heaped praise upon his departed Steel Curtain teammates and Coach, without naming any names. (Greenwood, White, Holmes and Noll...but like he said in his speech, we all know who they are.) Arguably, without Greene, Steelers Nation might not be where it is today. There were quite a few teary eyed people at Heinz Field tonight, including myself...and Mean Joe.
Apparently Mean Joe addressed the team before the game. While Tomlin stated that what was said is being kept between Greene and the team, James Harrison said after the game that he basically told them to go out there and "play Steelers football." During the game, Greene was seated in a luxury box just behind where my seats are. Watching him get that section going by leading cheers gave me goosebumps. It buzzed around the stadium like a tidal wave. I do believe I caught him joining in on some "Flaaaaaacoooooooo......Flaaaaaaacoooooooo....." chants as well
The halftime gun usually means it's time to run to concessions, hit the john and have a smoke. Tonight, there were VERY few yellow seats, and rightfully so. From all of Steelers Nation: Thanks, "Mean Joe."
