Hi everyone,
About 2 months ago, I was kindly sent a very generous amount of boe BEAUTY products to trial and after all this time, I’ve finally been able to give each product a good go so I’m here to share my thoughts!
For those of you unfamiliar with boe BEAUTY, it is an cosmetics brand exclusive to BIG W and the line features numerous products from lipsticks to eye shadows, bronzers to pressed powders and more, all at the extremely affordable price of $2!! boe are also currently releasing their boe PROFESSIONAL range of products that includes foundations, brow products, primers, mascara, base illuminators and more and the cost of this line ranges from $4.95 upwards.
Today I’ll be reviewing the boe BEAUTY Matte Lip Creams, Jumbo Wind Up Lips, Matte Lipsticks, Eyeshadow Duos and Liquid Eyeliners, all of which are from the original boe BEAUTY line and cost only $2 each.
Their take on the popular lip crayons, the Jumbo Wind Up Lips are a great glossy balm type product. The product comes in a wind up tube for easy use and application is just as easy as these glide over the lips and you can increase the pigmentation with some extra swipes. With a more balmy than creamy texture, they are light and comfortable to wear with no sticky or tacky sensation and give a very nice finish to the lips. Longevity wise, they can last on me for about 2 – 3 hours before I need to reapply so whilst they aren’t the longest wearing lip product, they dont do too bad! I absolutely love the shade Boudoir Pink as it’s such a gorgeous natural everyday shade.
The BOE beauty Matte Lipsticks really impressed me as I didn’t think that they would perform as well as they did! Matte lipsticks are usually a little drier and harder to apply but these boe BEAUTY Matte Lipsticks are the complete opposite! They’re surprisingly creamy and very easy to apply on the lips and they definitely deliver on pigmentation. One thing to note again is that whilst they are labelled matte, they dont dry completely matte and are more of a semi matte finish. These lipsticks come in a lovely range of bright, statement shades, perfect for any big occasion. I found that these worked best with a lip liner to ensure that they didn’t move too much but wear wise, these lasted very well on the lips and as they faded, they left a stain on the lips.
Coming in duos, these eyeshadows are paired together with one being a more highlighter shade, whist the other a more base shade. All the shades contain shimmer to them , giving either a more frosty or metallic finish. The eyeshadows are housed in a pot with a screw on lid which can be a bit of a hassle to open and close though you could depot them for easier use. The shadows are surprisingly soft, buttery and smooth and pigmentation is very nice for $2! Although they do work better over a primer (as most eyeshadows do), without it, you’re still able to get a nice amount of colour on the eye. Due to its texture, these are easy to use and blend but as they are so soft, they can act a little crumbly and cause some fallout, though it’s definitely not excessive.
There are 2 types of eyeliners in the line, with the coloured liquid liners having a metallic finish and a brush applicator whilst the black liquid eyeliner has a felt tip applicator dipped in the liquid liner. The brush applicator in the Metallic Purple, Green, Blue and Gold Eyeliners can be a hit or miss but overall, isn’t too bad. I found the key to using the coloured eyeliners was to apply a thin coat across the eye in one motion as going back in to fill in a gap caused the eyeshadow to move and wipe away. I also found that too thick a coat of eyeliner would cause it to cease and flake off which is disappointing. However, the black liquid eyeliner performed much better. The felt tip applicator allowed for precise application and the liner was definitely buildable to achieve your preferred liner look with a semi glossy finish. It didn’t flake or smudge and stayed in place until removed.
When I received these boe BEAUTY products, there was a VIP competition with the theme ‘Rockin Eyes’ on so below are some of the looks I created with the above products!
