Ooh! These are exciting – new Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours from MAC. There are a total of 15 shades, but these are already available instores, so here are my swatches for you to decide watchew wanna get :D
Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour – $39 each
First impressions:
The Packaging: Bullet-like, with a twist-open cap (same design as the signature black MAC lipstick cover). The applicator is attached to the cap and has a tapered end that helps in a rather precise lip line drawing. The sponge portion is rather soft and smooth without being too abrasive.
The Texture: Smooth and creamy. It glides onto the lips smoothly and can cover most fine lines. Make sure to let the color set before smacking your lips together – they’ll end up sticking together and get blobby if you do. Once they’ve set into a matte finish, your colours are safe, locked and loaded, with a very slight sensation of a film wrapped around your lips.
The Colour: AMAZINGLY, unbelievably and ridiculously pigmented. 1 coat is all you need for daily wear, 2 coats for added intensity, and 3 coats if you totally wanna one-up that skank at some fancy event :D
Now I didn’t get a chance to put these to the full-day test, so I can’t tell you how long they’ll last/whether they tint. However, based on my experience swatching them, they do stay on pretty well (once you let them set). They’re easy to remove with a proper makeup remover (make sure you use a good one, cos this will set into the fine lines of the lips). Will update this page if I manage to get a piece to test for the whole day :)
MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is available in 15 shades – the 9 that I’ve swatched are available instores now, while the other 6 are set to be launched in February. Stay tuned – will try to upload with all shades if I get my hands on them :)
