Sunday Reflections – 21 January 2018

By Whatsheread

Happy Sunday!

It is a gloomy day here but considering it is unusually warm for this time of year, I am not going to complain. Although it is the type of weather that makes me want to take a nap. Hmmm…

Jim’s job interview on Wednesday went really well, and he has one offer in hand. He has another job interview tomorrow morning and hopes to get an offer from them as well so we have choices to make. Hopefully, by this time next week, he will have accepted a job offer and we can more forward with whatever needs to happen after that.

The thing is, even if he does accept a job offer next week, Jim will not be starting his new job until later in February. His mother is paying for a brothers-and-mom trip to Australia starting 31 January, from which he does not come back until 18 February. Jim will be traveling all around Australia with his mother and his three other brothers, visiting friends they knew from years and years ago and seeing the sights. The timing is truly awful given Jim’s job situation, but this was a trip he could not miss.

Holly finished her first semester of eighth grade last week and starts her last semester of middle school tomorrow. We received the notification about registering for classes for ninth grade already, so things are moving forward there. She is more than ready to get to high school, so this is all very welcome to her. News from Connor is sporadic. I know his school closed for MLK, Jr. Day, so he had an extra day for homework and resting. Jim and I are taking the position that no news is good news from Connor this semester and will hope that turns out to be true in the end!

Everything else is business as usual in the Shannon household. Work, school, dance, homework, rinse, and repeat. We are heading to Jim’s sister’s house after dance rehearsal today to watch the playoff games and have dinner. I am not one for giving up a Sunday of rest and relaxation, but we have not seen them since Connor’s graduation so it should be fun.

To all of those who marched yesterday whether in person or in spirit, I hope you are as inspired as I am by the outpouring of support and sheer numbers of the resistance the marches showed! If people were concerned the movement was slowing down, I think yesterday proved the exact opposite! Now, onto November midterms!

I hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday and a productive but restful weekend! Have a wonderful week and I will see you all back here next week!
