Subscription Product Testing (week Ending 9/26/15)

By Elisabeth @onecutedoc

Hey Beauty and Subscription Box Lovers! These are the subscription box products I received and tested this week. These are my honest opinions and suggestions. I have linked where you can buy the products if you so choose. I hope you learn more about the products subscription boxes offer. I really enjoy testing these products. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

I received this product (deluxe sample) in my September 2015 Beautyfix Box. I love facial scrubs because they get rid of dead skin. This scrub was really nice and smelled just like lemons. I love the scent and it really wakes you up. The scrub is not too harsh on the skin. I can feel the scrub working, but it isn't painful. The grittiness is nice and it thickens up nicely too. My skin also felt smooth and soft afterwards. It did leave my face a little red, but the redness quickly disappeared. I will continue to use this scrub because I just love the scent so much.

I may purchase again, but I am not sure

I received this product (sample) in my September 2015 Beautyfix Box. It is the product on the left. I hate this product. It smells so awful, just like burnt coffee. I am not a coffee fan and I just can't stand the smell. I am not sure how well it works because I couldn't get over the smell. I only tried it once because the smell made me sick to my stomach. I wish I could have used it longer to see how the actual product works. This may be an awesome product, but I just couldn't use it. The price is also outrageous! It better be a miracle in a bottle for that price. However, I will never know.

I received this product in my September 2015 Beautyfix Box. This product is suppose to be a smart makeup; meaning it is suppose to contain pigments that match your skin tone. However, this product was a complete fail on my skin (as seen in the pictures). It did not change shades to match my skin tone at all. It is way too dark for my complexion. I also didn't like the formula because it is a bit oily. If you have tan skin, you may love this product. However, I couldn't test it out well enough because it was a complete shade fail. I took it off with a makeup wipe right away. It does seem to have decent coverage if you have tan skin. I will be giving this away to a friend or pitching it because I won't ever use it again. (PS...if you want this product and have darker skin then me, let me know and I can sent it to you. I just put the product on the back of my hand and used it once.)

The shade does not match at all

I received this product (sample) in my August 2015 Adore Box. It is a conditioner for short hair and I don't have short hair. However, I don't think hair length really matters when it comes to conditioners. I am not a hair expert, but I wouldn't know why hair length would be a factor in conditioners. I thought this conditioner was pretty good. It is not amazing and I didn't notice any major difference in my hair. However, it did condition my hair and my hair didn't feel overly dry. It felt soft, but I have used better conditioners. This is just an okay product.

I receive this product (sample) in my September 2015 3B Box. It is said to be the best selling Japanese moisturizer. It is suppose to be extremely hydrating and fix all dry patches. The smell is strong (like Vick's Vapor Rub) at first, but quickly disappears. It is a moisturizing cream, but I didn't notice any huge difference. It hydrated my dry patches, but it didn't remove them. I like this product, but there are US moisturizers that are better. This was not a life changing product for me.

Smell is not great and didn't notice any differences

I received this product (sample) in my September 2015 Ipsy Bag. I am a huge fan of facial masks. I love how my skin feels after using them. I have really enjoyed the Avene brand and I couldn't wait to try this mask. I have fairly dry skin so a moisture mask is exactly what my skin needs. This mask is quite different. You apply a liberal layer of the white cream over the skin. Next, you wait 15-20 minutes for the mask to sink into the skin. Finally, you remove the excess product with a cotton pad. I have never used a mask that I was to remove the excess with a cotton pad. The mask turns into an oil and it really does moisturize the skin. I had a lot of fun with this mask and my skin felt nice afterwards.

I received this product in my September 2015 Boxycharm Box. I love moisturizing skin creams. This facial cream is pretty good. I would not say it is a miracle worker though. I really enjoyed it and it left my skin hydrated. However, I don't think it is worth $48. It is just a nice skin cream, but nothing spectacular. I will continue to use this cream, but I don't think I will repurchase. It did work very nice on the neck and decolletage. I will most likely be using it on just those areas.

I received this product (sample) in my September 2015 Boxycharm Box. I was pleasantly surprised with this dry oil. I figured the Kardashian Beauty line would be overrated because it is a celebrity line (I am not much of a Kardashian fan). However, this is a very nice dry oil. It did not leave my hair greasy at all. You can use it wet or dry and I enjoyed it both ways. It also smells really nice. It is a sort of sexy musk scent. It left my hair hydrated and shiny. I really like this dry oil.

I received this product (deluxe sample) in my September 2015 Glossybox. It is a foaming shampoo. I have never used a product like this for my hair. You are to pump 10-12 pumps of the foam onto your hair and then lather. It is really fun to use and is very foamy. I love the smell of this shampoo and it leaves my hair feeling very clean. It didn't strip my hair of the natural oils and my hair felt nice after using it. I just really enjoyed this shampoo (mostly because it was fun and different).

I received this product in my September 2015 Beauty Joy Box. I love the packaging on this mascara. It is so fun and cool. I also was pleasantly surprised by the formula. It really lengthened and volumized my lashes. The wand looks like a typical mascara wand so the magic must be in the formula. The mascara held my lash curl and didn't flake off. I also love that it didn't clump my lashes between coats. I love how easily it is to build intensity with this mascara. This mascara is a winner in my book.

I receive this product in my September 2015 3B Box. I wasn't planning on trying this product because I don't get pimples very often. However, this past week I had two! It must be getting close to my time of the month. Anyway, I pulled this bad boy out to test. It is a spot treatment product which is perfect for occasional breakouts. I never use acne products, so I am not a good judge on quality. This product did bring the pimple to the surface. However, it did not take my pimple away faster. My pimple still lasted 4-5 days. The gel feels nice on the skin, but I don't think it really helps speed the process. I am not sure if it heals the skin or not because I haven't used it that often. This is an okay product for me. If you are an acne sufferer, you may love this product.

Didn't work all that well

I received this product in my September 2015 Glossybox. I was really hoping to receive this product because I love the packaging. It looks so awesome and is designed to make applying lipstick a breeze. You twist the bottom to bring the lipstick to the top. I didn't think the slanted tip made it easier to apply, but it wasn't harder either. I really love this lip-color and think it is perfect for fall. It is matte, but not drying on the lips. I will be wearing this color a lot this fall. The best part about this lipstick is the packaging.

In other colors too

I received this product in my September 2015 Ipsy Bag. I love NYX products and I have found their eyeshadows to be great quality for the price. I love these colors so much and they are perfect for the fall. They didn't swatch that great, but on the eyes they are beautiful. I didn't use any primer with the look I created. I love that you can create a natural look or a more glam look with this palette. The shadows blend easily and are decently pigmented on the eyes. I am very happy with this eyeshadow palette.

I received this product in my September 2015 Boxycharm Box. It has been a very long time since I have used this type of foundation brush. I never really liked to apply my foundation with these flat brushes. However, I am shocked at how much I love this brush. It applied my foundation flawlessly and gave me an airbrushed finished. I am just so shocked at how well this brush worked. It is an expensive brush, but it is definitely made well. It feels so soft on the face and makes applying foundation so easy. I have become a huge fan of this brush. I will be applying my foundation with the brush all the time.

I received this product in my September 2015 Lip Monthly Bag. I love highlighting pens and couldn't wait to try this product. I used it to highlight my brow bone. It did a nice job, but I was not overly impressed by this product. I really don't think it is worth almost $18. It gave a little life to my brow bone, but I have other highlighters I enjoy much more than this one. I will use it again, but I am not thrilled by it. It is decently creamy, but the color doesn't show up much. If you are looking for a very (I mean very) subtle highlight, then you will love this product. It was just meh to me.

Due to price and just okay
