When styling a man’s hair, Victoria can usually take round 30 minutes, she is very focused, explaining in her first consultation that the natural style of the hair has to be understood, so that a completed change in direction even color takes time. As the natural line of the hair may fall into a parting, its best to look at styling the hair around your natural so that after you leave the studio, you can easily manage it. If the style changes too much most men won’t be able to spend the time restyling the hair at home.

So that doesn’t mean you can’t be on trend, you just have to understand your natural hair and that a new style will need new products and a new approach to your managing that style. Victoria’s male clients are very loyal, most men who visit a salon do stay loyal, but as Victoria knows being in a city like Hong Kong style is paramount at work or in a social setting.

When Victoria’s clients come to the studio rather than always giving the same cut, she will first find out are there any changes in their life she needs to be aware of, changes in job, more traveling, how about at home if married are you sharing responsibilities that cut into your own time, operating your own business also affects how you want to be perceived. Based on some feedback she can start to show a new approach by artistically using her hand to move the hair into a new direction, for example as Victoria explained “If you came and really wanted to have a David Beckham cut which is very popular, it’s very short on the sides,” as she draws the hair tight and flat against the side of the head, “That short look goes high up the side of the head, leaving the hair long on the top and groomed backwards.”
